Calendula produces one of the softest natural yellows you can create in cold process soap. In this video, I’m making a small custom batch using a calendula oil infusion and sharing a few simple production tips that make soapmaking easier and more efficient.
This soap came together by a bit of kismet. While we were working through Yellow Month inside the Year of the Rainbow, a custom order for calendula soap came in at exactly the same time. Since calendula naturally creates such beautiful pale yellows, it felt like the perfect bonus soap to include.

Calendula infusions almost always produce very pale yellow soap, and the final shade depends heavily on the petals themselves. Fresher dried petals tend to give stronger color, and petals that started out deep orange when fresh will often produce brighter yellow infusions.
At the end of the video you’ll see the finished bars: a delicate calendula yellow with bright yellow speckles scattered throughout the soap.
