Who we are

Soapy Friends is a resource site for soap makers – a friendly community of artists, hobbyists, and business owners (and who Kandra calls friends!) Soapy Friends is a DBA of Phases Design Studio, Inc. (which is owned by Kandra Churchwell) who retains rights to all content presented through Soapy Friends.

Below, you will find our privacy policy which describes how we collect, use, process and distribute your information. We do not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this policy. The use of information collected through our website shall be limited to the purposes of this policy.

We may change this privacy policy at any time and will highlight any changes for your information on the website if and when they are made.

By using our website, you consent to this policy.

Here’s the quick run down (but be sure to read the full dets below).

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, browse the website, or use certain other site features:

  •  To personalize your experience to provide better content for you.
  •  To improve our website to better serve you.
  •  To respond to your customer service requests.
  •  To administer a contest, promotion, survey, or other site feature.
  •  To quickly process your transactions.
  •  To send emails regarding your order or other products and services, including reviews.

What personal information do we collect from you?

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection (because no one likes spam!).

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you submit contact forms on our website, we collect the data shown in the contact form as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

The submitted information is kept securely in our database and in our email service for up to three years.

Shopping

When browsing our products we store the following information:

  • Products viewed. (So we can make suggestions about related products and help you find that “thing” you were looking at earlier).
  • Your location, IP address and browser type maybe used to optimize your experience for estimating taxes and shipping.
  • Your address. Once entered, your address will be saved for use in billing and shipping.
  • Your shopping cart contents will be stored for 60 days so you can come back to it later.

At time of purchase, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and account information like username and password. We use this information to:

  • Send you information about your account and order.
  • Respond to your question about your order.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Set up your account for our store .
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have.
  • Improve our store.
  • Send you marketing messages if you choose to receive them.

When you create an account, we will store your name, address, email, and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders. You can edit or change this information anytime you want in your account dashboard.

How long we store/retain data:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website or purchase our products, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Shopping cart and order information is also stored in your account and can be deleted for you upon request.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

You can see YouTube’s Privacy Policy and Vimeo’s Privacy Policy for more details.

Communication

If you opt-in to receive our emails, we may use your personal information to provide you with relevant information about the products you purchase or marketing communications that we believe will be of value and interest to you. If this ever starts to bug you, you can easily unsubscribe from the link in any of the emails. We also keep track of what emails we have sent you through our system (so we don’t send you the same thing twice!). These logs are retained until you request removal of your data.

Analytics

We also collect non-identifying information, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. We collect this information to better understand how you use our website, which helps us improve it for you. We collect behavior statistics that help with this goal too (such as which pages are popular and which ones are just hogging bandwidth).

How long do we store data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its data are retained indefinitely unless requested to be removed.

If you have an account and do not log in to this site, we remove your account and all relevant information after 24 months of inactivity.

If you begin to place an order and choose to abandon the checkout process, cancel the order, or fail to complete the order, your initiated order will be deleted after thirty days.

If you place an order and fully complete it, your order details will remain for as long as your account it active. This allows you to access your digital goods and online courses for as long as you are interested in them.

If you sign up for marketing emails and do not want to receive them any longer, you may opt-out by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails. We do not delete the information collected from email subscribers unless requested.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

It looks like the most complete card I have seen. Haven't make any infusion yet. Waiting for the kits from Anne Georges to arrive. The USPS are giving a hard time with the delivery.
