Anti-Alkanet (and Alkanet) Master Class LIVE

(2 customer reviews)

Join me and master purple with plant based colorants!

When I wrote my book, The Natural Soap Color Palette, I introduced my favorite way to blend purple and named it the “anti-alkanet”. Why? Because alkanet was a beast to tackle! It took me over two years to to master it and I wanted purple in the mean time. Well guess what? I love anti-alkanet purples even more than alkanet, and soon you will to!

In this master class session, we explore all of the botanicals in the AnneGeorges Anti-Alkanet Soapy Color Kit (yup, she made soapy color kits for us!), and we’ll play with alkanet too.

Included with Membership! Plans start at $7.00USD

Featuring AnneGeorges Colorants

Join me and other Soapy Friends in a replay of a three day master class where we made purple, and purple, and more purple soaps (with a side of reds and pinks)!

We always have so much fun soaping with friends, and this master class is no exception. We even found time for an extra bonus soap! Here’s what you’ll get in this in-depth master class on natural colorants

  • 12+ Lessons including over 3 hours of video, details photos, color comparisons, and of course soap making!
  • Take a deep dive into understanding how to blend colors to achieve a rainbow of natural plant colors.
  • Discover an array of purples… without any alkanet!! (yes, we do make purple with alkanet too, but anti-alkanet purples are so much fun!)
  • Discussion on the featured botanicals including their background & where they come from… and yes, how to best incorporate them into soap
    • Alkanet
    • Madder Root
    • Charcoal
  • Learn my micro-batch testing methods
  • Color updates 1 week later and once the soaps have cured. PLUS we’ll do some lather tests on our soaps to verify if they bleed, stain, or color the lather. All participants will have access to color updates as soon as they are posted to the site.
  • Lifetime access to all content.
  • Oh, and did I mention that we look at gelled vs. non-gelled colors too? 😊

Wondering if Master Class Sessions are for You?

These multi-day live stream sessions are fun filled virtual gatherings of soapy friends where we focus on testing and learning out featured colorant(s). I’ll be doing all of the work (and the dishes!) while you sit back, enjoy a glass of wine (or cup of tea), while laughing and conversing with soapy friends…. and winning prizes from the class sponsor!!

A typical session set includes:

  • A three day seminar, approximately 1-hour each day
    • Day 1: An overview of the botanicals (where they are from, history, and more) and how to extract their magical colors
    • Day 2: A flurry of super fun soapmaking, blending, and testing. (this class runs about 1.5 hours as I try to answer all questions while making soap at the same time!)
    • Day 3: Unmolding, assessing, and QA sessions
    • PRIZES!!! Yup, I give out prizes each day during the live sessions!
  • Follow ups include color inspections after the soaps have cured, and lather tests
  • Extension classes which include follow up testing discussed in the live sessions, additional colors testing, and more!
  • All classes are recorded and uploaded to the course "replay". When you purchase the Master Class, you have lifetime access to all course content, video replays, and extension classes. WooHooo!
    • After the live event, soapers can purchase the replay and have access to all content.

Kandra knows this subject matter well. Presented her findings well after studying over 2 years. Gave much information over the 3 days. She will continue to update us after the fact of the colors as they morph. I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn about plant colorant in the purples category (and more than just purple)! You will get your moneys worth out of her course. The replays are always up for us to go back to. The interface was easy to use from the content to the live zoom video. Great job Kandra!

Q & A

Is your class three 45 minute sessions or are you having 3 sessions of the same class? Jennifer Silveus asked on March 29, 2023

Hi Jennifer - It's one class that spans three days. Day 1: Overview of the botanicals and prep for the soapmaking day (with all of the info about what will be happening along the way). Day 2: we make soap! It's a flurry of mad soapy science and super fun! Day 3: unmolding, review and assessment. I then come back after the soaps are cured (you get a recorded video) and access the colors and do a lather test for you. All of the live sessions are recorded and will be uploaded to the class 1-2 weeks after we wrap things up.
